While the nails were starting to be driven into the hippie generation's coffin, an L.A. band would cast an influence and signal a new movement of musical artistry that would prove to be a hard act to follow. The Day the Rockstar Died
Keith Moon was an English drummer for the Rock music band The Who. Noted for his unique style, alcohol addiction and his eccentric, often self-destructive behaviour Moon developed a reputation for smashing his kit on stage and destroying hotel rooms on tour. His drumming continues to be praised by critics and musicians to this day. Moon was voted the second-greatest drummer in history by Rolling Stone. By 1976, and particularly during production of The Kids Are Alright (film) and Who Are You (song), Moon's deterioration grew. Moving back to London in 1978, he died on 7th of September aged 32, from an overdose of Clomethiazole, a drug intended to treat or prevent symptoms of alcohol withdrawal.
